About the event
Padel Origin (previously Padel State of Origin) is an annual Australian padel tournament that mirrors the intensity of the rugby league rivalry between New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland (QLD). Launched in 2021, this event brings together top players from both states to compete in a best-of-three series, featuring men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles matches.
WHAT IS PADEL?
Padel is a racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash. It’s usually played in doubles on an enclosed court that’s smaller than a tennis court, with walls that the ball can bounce off —like in squash.
Players use solid, stringless rackets and a low-compression ball. You serve underhand and the game is fast, social, and easy to pick up, which makes it very popular. Think of it as tennis with walls and a more fun, accessible vibe.

Bea CuadraHi! I’m Bea, i'm part of small group of people organising Padel Origin — a passionate advocate for growing the sport of padel in Australia. I work alongside Tim Brown, the #1 Padel player of Australia, who has been running the event every year since 2021, bringing together the top players from New South Wales and Queensland to compete in a friendly but fiercely competitive environment that celebrates athleticism, community, and state pride.
Over the past few years, we have built strong connections within the padel community, from local clubs and coaches to emerging brands who share the same drive for performance and lifestyle. Padel Origin has grown from a small concept into one of Australia’s most awaited events for the sport
