About the event

The Beech Grove Grand Prix is a proposed community go-kart racing event to be hosted at the Beech Grove Senior High School and Hornet Park Elementary School parking complexes in Beech Grove, Indiana. Following the race excitement of the Indianapolis 500 the weekend prior and with the grounds being more accessible with the end of the school year, this event is designed as an amateur go-kart road race featuring SIRA Karting as the official sanctioning and operations partner, the event aims to bring motor sport excitement to the local community, adding another high-impact event alongside the Beech Grove Fall Festival and 4^th of July Firework Show to the city of Beech Grove.

The Grand Prix will provide a safe, competitive, family-friendly environment, offering both free entertainment and a gathering place for BG/Indy residents, alumni, students, businesses, and racers/motorsports enthusiasts. This event plan outlines the vision, logistics, budget, and marketing strategy, along with a benefit plan specifically for Beech Grove Athletics and other associated BG booster programs for a unique day of competition and community celebration.

As someone with professional experience in event planning, coordination, and sales, I understand the importance of creating memorable experiences, building strong partnerships, managing event logistics, and delivering value to sponsors. My goal is to bring that experience to Beech Grove by developing an event that the community can take pride in and look forward to year after year.

Wes Compton

My name is Wes Compton, and I have a background in event management, coordination, and sales, with a degree in Tourism, Conventions, and Event Management from Indiana University. Through my professional experience working in the events industry, such as with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Pacers Sports & Entertainment, and corporate events at downtown Indianapolis Marriott properties. I’ve developed a strong appreciation for what it takes to bring people together, build successful partnerships, and create memorable experiences.

I’m passionate about bringing that experience back to my community through the inaugural Beech Grove Grand Prix and Brian Elliott Memorial Classic (first responders race). I've had this vision for atleast four years now to establish an exciting annual event that brings together local businesses, families, motorsports enthusiasts, and the Beech Grove community.

As the organizer, I’m committed to building strong relationships with our sponsors and community partners while creating an event that people can take pride in. I see the inaugural Grand Prix as an opportunity to lay the foundation for something lasting, and I’m excited to work with local businesses to make that vision a reality.
