I’m in the process of organising an arts festival (provisionally set for Sunday, 19th July 2026) that celebrates arts and creativity within our community and region. This event will encourage active participation, rather than just being a standard exhibition, market, or show. My aim is to create an inclusive space that supports and encourages creativity, where people are actively engaged and can take part in the event, rather than simply observing or purchasing art.
I am working with a variety of artists and creators to offer demonstrations, have-a-go sessions, and mini workshops across a wide range of creative outlets, including visual arts, music, theatre, dance, and more. I’ve also been in contact with my friends at the local charity, Suffolk Sight, to explore accessible activities that can engage the local community, as well as Cohere Arts who have offered to provide an activity/workshop
Additionally, I would like to revive our small annual young artists showcase, possibly in the form of an open-air pop-up or hosted in the barn, giving these emerging artists an opportunity to showcase their work and receive support on their artistic journeys.
We are also looking at having some artists/performers/creators give talks in the barn, which would be a great opportunity for these young creatives to see what an arts career or education can look like and how these skills and passions can be applied.
My core goals for the festival are affordability, accessibility, and supporting our local creative community, as well as raising funds for charity.
One of the key features of the festival will be communal art projects, where visitors can contribute to larger pieces of work over the course of the event. These works will reflect the vibrant creativity of our local area and raise funds for charities in our community.
I started my art studio towards the end of my maternity leave with my son after finding myself engaging more in my art and local arts community through volunteering.
I found over the years that finding a space display my work and teach from for an affordable rate was near impossible as someone just starting their artistic journey so I founded Sakura Studio Gallery - an art space committed to supporting independent creators and our local community
